Delight Preparing For 2021-2022 Action

Spring is upon us and we are out of lockdown in CHCH. Time to get the expedition baby ship sorted for a spring summer and beyond of eco action !

Delight is our 30 foot sloop based for now in Lyttleton. We are poised for exploration of the Banks Peninsula Marine Sanctuary and creating some video resources that show the sanctuary and highlights key information about its importance.

If you are keen to pop along, share information about the sanctuary or help edit the video that we take let us know!

We have also plans to visit local harbours including Akaroa and then going further afield to Kaikoura.

Before the expeditions begin we must prepare the ship for longer passages.

Onnamish over the week to fix and sort

Install solar panel, extra bilge pumps, auto pilot, epirb, flares, new first aid kit, life raft, fisting rods (OH YEAH ) , wet weather gear. 12v speaker 12 v fridge, inverter and bigger battery bank. Three cameras mounted.

I have decided that a set of the following for each crew is important : Head torch, multitool, utility belt, life jacket and harness, tether. personal epirb, wet weather gear. Sword / fencing foil.

Really like the deck lights and cabin lights installed, they are great. Super pleased that all the switches go, electrics are working a treat, no rot, rigging is strong as.

After this wee maintenance mission, Delight will be ready for some more serious sailing. ( she is pretty ready now but I guess the above are important for additional safety)

Join us on our local missions, learn to sail, learn about the sanctuary.
