Establish Camp Samoa

Follow our posts which we will keep updated that describe the ongoing development of the camp. The camp build is outlined in a strategy


The goal is to set up an Eco-Camp on the fringe of the reef at Lalomanu. The first of a set of camps that will be established across Samoa.


The Camps are the base for environmental protection and other projects facilitated by the Eco-Pirates.


For Eco-Camp Samoa - Lalomanu, we are in the design phase. Designing a camp that will meet the needs of our eco actions, be a base for our live in families, allow for income generation that will support our projects.


The Fuataga Asini clan of the Lalomanu Village have made available to us land and people that will support our projects.


Camp Samoa Lalomanu


Location


Camp Samoa Tilo Tilo will be built at Tilo Tilo – Lalomanu. The land belongs to Fuataga Asini clan. It is one of many land parcels in the Atua District made available to the project.


The beach is at Lalomanu Samoa. It is the most popular beach in all of Samoa. Tilo Tilo is situated next to famous and successful beach resorts including, Taufua Beach Fales, Litisini Beach Resort and a number of other smaller beach fale.









What Is Camp Samoa


Camp Samoa features


Tiki Bar / Grill


A Tiki Bar and Grill is located on the inland side of the main road. The Bar / grill features sound system, commercial kitchen, pool table, arcade games. The Tiki bar is famous for its coconut cocktails and BBQ based menu. It can sit up to 70 guests.


Car Park


There will be parking alongside the bar and Hire Shop for 30 vehicles. This space will be used regularly for a local farmers market selling local produce as an alternative to selling at Apia.


Hire Shop


Camp Samoa hire shop has a range of items for hire for use across the coast of Lalomanu. It will include

§ Snorkel Hire

§ Fishing rod hire

§ Scooter Hire

§ Tent Hire & Camping gear Hire

§ Bike Hire

The Hire Shop will also be the booking place for activities including

§ Pig hunting

§ Fishing reef and boat based

§ Kayak tours

§ Crater Rim and forest walks

§ Other activities


Camp Samoa will feature fifteen beach fale on the beach front. These are primarily day stay fale. In front of the fale a number of beach beds and umbrellas will provide additional shade for day stays.


The beach will also feature a permanent volleyball net.


On the inland side of the property, there will be a range of accommodation options available. The manager and family are live in. (Accommodation built into the bar and grill)






Glamour Tents


These are bell tents on a deck. It features mats, beds, chests, power for phone and computer charging and a lock box. There will be 15 of these sites within the camp.

Those that stay in these tents access shared cooking facilities and ablutions.








Cabins

There will be 10 single and 10 double cabins. Cabins are based on tiny home design and feature either one bedroom or two-bedroom, kitchen toilet and shower. There is an open Samoa style fale built outside the lockable secure living quarters.

Cabins are designed from shipping containers, self-contained, off grid, secure and situated in a garden setting.



Programme and Activities


Camp Samoa will offer local tours and activities. Guests can choose also to be involved in environmental conservation and other activities also.

Key to the camp is the focus on environmental protection and promotion of health and wellbeing and local economic development.

The bar area will serve as an educational space for workshops on environmental protection including


- Reef replanting

- Turtle incubation and conservation

- Eradication of crown of thorns

- Seeding of Giant Clams

- Reef fish surveys

- Bird protection and breeding including Samoan Owl and fruit bat.

- Replanting native plants in a 10,000 plants project across the village.


Health Promotion Activities will include a project whereby locals will be provided basic first aid training including CPR, advanced first aid and training available for first response paramedics and search and rescue, water safety. The local community will have access to a well appointed first aid clinic on site. Equipping locals with first aid education, water safety education will be good for everyone including visitors who have limited access to first response.
