Whilst building and prep work is underway to establish an Eco Camp on the beach in Samoa, we have begun some ground work on developing programmes that will be delivered from the camp that will promote social, economic and health development of our people.
Eco Pirate David, a supporter and active sailor has been training in Search and Rescue and qualifying to teach first aid. Later this year he will be set and qualified. Together with the Eco-Pirates he is set to develop a project whereby he will train 100 villagers in first aid and advanced first aid and provide first aid kits. Using the Eco-Pirate ships, we will be able to attend small remote islands to deliver the kits and training too.
In a place where there is limited access to first aid, CPR, ambulance services and health care, this first response support will be invaluable!
The aim is that this project lead out by David, will be part of our wider health promotion focus in the region.
