We have purchased a shredder, extrusion machine and some moulds to get underway with the plastic mission!
We have set up two plastic collection points and are just about to employ our recycle magician!
Initially here in Christchurch we will shred plastics donated at our drop zones at ARCADIA and the workshop in the inner city. We will shred this along with plastic gathered on our plastic foraging missions out and about. We will be turning the plastic into very funky planter pots and other items ready for sale with proceeds going to further the actions at Camp Samoa!
It is exciting times, while collecting plastic we have been astounded at just how much EVERYTHING seems to be covered in plastic !
ETA for the machines to arrive NZ is January 2022 then it is game on! By then we will certainly have reached our target of 1000 kg of plastic to shred and re-use.
