The Plight of Patricia

Patricia is a ship that we have been working on in Northland. She is a 39 foot Hartley cruiser. She has been around the pacific a number of times and is a sturdy ferro cement beauty.

The intention is that she will be repaired, bought back to life and then she will make her way to Samoa to be a flagship for the reef and eco education.

So far, in the yard at OPUA next to all the flash boats, Patricia has had her hull cleaned, painted, antifouled, she has had her rigging repaired and strengthened, wiring repaired, rudder and steering repaired and all fixed. Just the engine to go BUT they boys at the engine place say its to big a job, better to buy another boat!

So this can only mean ONE THING. Do it yourself!

The plan now is that I will head up to OPUA from CHCH, free up the propeller, build a crazy outboard mount on her that slides a meter to the water line, launch her and sail her home ! Finish the jobs off in CHCH and then deliver her to Samoa WHAT A MISSION, but hey beats watching TV.

Here is a version of what we will have to build to get her moving.
